How To Stop The Noise

Stop Wasting Energy On Things Nobody Cares About

Welcome to Man Morning, a weekly newsletter where I share hard truths. No fluff, no theory, no nonsense.

In basketball, a dunk is two points.

So is a simple layup.

Same result.

However, for the average athlete both require different amounts of energy.

The layup is efficient.

The dunk, not so much

The Hidden Tradeoff

The dunk might make SportsCenter.

The layup probably won't.

But at the end of the game,

The scoreboard doesn't care how you got there.

But your energy reserves certainly do.

Where You're Dunking

The 45-minute presentation when 10 would work.

The complex project plan that could be three action steps.

The 5 paragraph email that could be three sentences.

The meeting that could be a message.

The complicated solution to a simple problem.

The Energy Tax

Each unnecessary extra costs you.

Not just time.

But mental bandwidth.

Focus.

Creativity.

Recovery capacity.

Energy you could direct elsewhere.

Real-World Layups

The templated email response.

The one-page strategy document.

The 2-minute phone call that replaces back and forth emails.

The default "no" to non-essential meetings.

The automated system that replaces manual work.

What Gets Sacrificed

"Impressive" often comes at the expense of effective.

"Complex" often masks a lack of clarity.

"Busy" often disguises a lack of priority.

Energy spent on appearance

Is energy not spent on substance.

Your Move

Say no to one non-essential request this week.

Replace a meeting with a clear email.

Pick up the phone instead of texting back and forth.

Set a timer to finish an important task.

The energy you save will fuel what actually matters.
