Motivation, humor, and honesty from a man actively dodging a midlife crisis so you can too.

"Give me a minute."
That's what I kept telling my kids the other day.
I was scrolling social.
Reading about world events. Sports takes. People arguing about things none of us can control.
Meanwhile, my kids were right in front of me trying to get my attention.
My phone was between me and them.
I was giving energy to things I have zero influence over while ignoring the two people I do.
What bothered me was that it wasn't really about the phone.
It was about allocation.
Where my attention goes.
Where my energy goes.
Where my frustration goes.
I don't always think in those terms.
Sometimes I just react.
I know I'm not alone.
Men will spend three hours watching football but won't spend twenty minutes learning AI.
People are outraged about international events but aren't involved in local events.
A lot of folks rage about billionaires but that home project they started in 2024 still isn’t finished.
Outrage is easy.
Personal work is hard.
We have a focus and outrage budget.
And I've spent way too much of mine on things I can't control.
I'm not saying the world doesn't matter.
I'm not saying don't care.
I'm asking a different question.
Are you focusing on what you can't control to avoid fixing what you can?
That's the trade no one talks about.
Your health.
Your marriage.
Your kids.
Your money.
Your craft.
Your growth.
Energy is limited.
Spend it where it counts.
