The Case for Being Unreasonable
When Playing It Safe Becomes the Riskiest Move of All
Society loves reasonable people.
The ones who:
Check all the boxes.
Follow the path.
Play it safe.
I used to be reasonable.
Then I left a good job.
Moved to NYC with less than $1,000.
Chased a TV career that seemed impossible.
It didn't make sense.
Neither did leaving that TV career for coaching and speaking.
Or self-publishing three books before landing a major book deal.
Or these days, something as simple as driving 90 minutes to go just 16 miles to attend a Lakers game with a friend.
But I'm glad I did.
Lately though, I've been too reasonable.
Too predictable.
Taking fewer risks.
Time to get unreasonable again.
Here's What Nobody Tells You
You're smarter than you've ever been.
But maybe not as bold as you used to be.
That's the trap.
The Real Opportunity
Combine your hard-earned wisdom
With your old audacity.
That's where magic happens.
What Unreasonable Looks Like
It's not always about big swings:
Getting up 30 minutes earlier.
Booking that trip you keep talking about.
Hiring that trainer.
Finally eating clean.
Putting the phone in another room.
Starting that side project.
Learning AI when everyone's scared of it.
The Truth About Reasonable
If your life was a movie,
Would you keep watching?
Is it enjoyable?
Or is it too predictable?
Your Move
You don't have to bet the farm.
But at least bet the garden.
Because reasonable got you here.
Unreasonable gets you there.
