This has been the hardest year of my life.
I don’t say that for sympathy.
I say it because if you’ve been reading this newsletter, you’ve been with me through it.
After the wildfire took our house and community in January 2025, I had one pair of pants.
My family was living in an Airbnb in a new city.
My greatest fear had come true.
I had lost everything.
I didn’t know what came next.
No plan. No strategy.
Until a question popped into my head.
What would make today a success?
That question kept me moving.
It gave me something to focus on when everything else felt out of control.
Some days, success was managing the insurance company.
Other days it was working out.
Other days it was just showing up for my wife and kids.
And over time, I noticed something.
On the days that felt better, I had usually done a few simple things:
Stayed connected to people who had my back.
Moved my body.
Learned something.
Unplugged, even briefly.
Finished something.
That was it.
Nothing fancy.
Just enough structure to keep me in the game.
That’s what got me through.
I didn't build a system first and then live it. I lived it.
Then I realized what I'd been doing.
That became The 1-Day Method.
I’ve been writing this newsletter since October 2022.
