Where Your Next Break Will Come From
It's Not Who You Know. It's Who Knows This...
Welcome to Man Morning, a weekly hit of truth, tools, and momentum to help us avoid the drift and live on purpose.

Today's email is brought to you by my Power Sessions.
Let me know if you're interested to hear more about how I can help you one on one.
A data analytics pro booked with me recently and here's what he said about it:
"You mentioned that VP and 150K is where I should be given my experience and tenure. At first, I didn’t believe it. But I suppose that’s what being out of the job market for so long led me to think.
After our work together and putting it on paper it felt more attainable. Fast forward and I’m starting my 1st day as a VP and found my way to 25K over that 150K."
We chase strangers when pursuing opportunities.
Cold emails.
Faceless applications.
Social media posts.
Meanwhile, the people who already know us sit waiting.
Every time a keynote coaching client finishes working with me, they ask:
"How do I get booked?"
Then the guessing starts:
"Should I post clips on LinkedIn?"
"Should I reach out to speaker bureaus?"
"Do I need a website or demo reel?"
Your next break won't come from social media.
It won't be a cold DM or a viral post.
It’s going to come from someone who already knows you're legit.
Your old manager.
A former colleague.
The mentor in your corner.
The friend who's always believed in you.
These people don't need to be convinced.
They just need to know what you want now.
Of course, this works because you've been showing up for years.
Doing good work.
Supporting others.
Building relationships.
Adding value consistently.
During my work with a keynote coaching client, I give them a simple assignment:
Send five emails to five people who already know and respect you.
Something straightforward like this:
Subject: Quick Favor
[Name],
[Something personal about them]
I wanted to share that I'm now [what you're pursuing].
I focus on [specific value] for [specific audience] who want [specific outcome].
Is there anyone in your network I should connect with about this?
If someone comes to mind, I'd appreciate an introduction.
Thank you,
[Your Name]
Is it simple? Yes.
And, I've seen it work time and again.
One email turns into a call.
That call into an introduction.
That introduction into an opportunity.
Remember, it's not who you know. It's who knows what you want.
Most people in your network would help if they knew how. But they can't read your mind.
Identify five people who already believe in you. Tell them specifically what you're after.
Make it easy for them to help.
One real connection beats a hundred cold calls.
Every time.
Reply to this email with who you'll reach out to this week.
