🛡️ A Struggle Worth Every Breath
It was the biggest race of his life, and no one had picked him to win.
On paper, he didn't stand a chance.
At the starting line he looked at his competitors.
He couldn't help but admit that he was the underdog.
Halfway through the race, his doubts were confirmed.
He struggled to keep pace with the elite talent.
Still, he stayed in the race.
His lungs burned like they were on fire.
His legs grew heavy, like slabs of concrete.
The idea of quitting crossed his mind.
No one was paying attention to him anyway, he thought.
Then a voice said, "Don't stop."
He brushed it off, but it came again.
"Don't stop."
He couldn't tell if he was losing his grip or hallucinating from fatigue.
"Don't stop," the voice insisted.
"I can't keep going," he thought, acknowledging the voice.
"Keep running," the voice urged.
He gasped for air, his lungs ablaze, and legs heavy.
He'd never felt this way before.
The race, and life itself it seemed, was overpowering him.
His mind and body screamed, "Stop! You can't do it. Your body can't handle it."
"Keep going, you're almost there," the voice encouraged.
He picked up his pace and immediately regretted it.
Pain engulfed his body and he struggled to stay in the race.
"Keep going!" the voice demanded.
"I can't," he gasped aloud through labored breaths.
"If I keep going, I think I’ll die," he panted.
"Then die!" the voice barked in his mind.
Stunned by the words, the man made a choice.
He embraced uncertainty and kept running, not knowing what the consequences would be.
He finished the race and immediately collapsed to the ground after crossing the finish line.
He didn’t win, but neither did he die.
Instead, he discovered a new self.
That day, in that race, an old version of himself died on the track, never to reappear.
Inspired by an apocryphal story about Bruce Lee.
🏋️ Your Capable Body
"No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”

⚡ The Man Morning Question
At the beginning of every Man Morning, a question or statement is shared to guide the conversation.
For you to consider this week:
What could keeping all of your options open cost you?
Reply to this email or drop a comment with your thoughts about this statement.
That’s it for this issue.
Please forward it to a man who will appreciate it.
