In today’s issue:

  • 💬 Words to ponder

🏎️ THE ITALIAN TUNE-UP

Prior to technological advances, one recommended way to restore engine performance in sports cars was to drive them at high speeds.

The thinking behind it was that driving the vehicle at a high load would burn off carbon deposits from the spark plugs and help the car run at peak performance.

Italian mechanics came up with this approach in the 1950s and they called it, wait for it, the “Italian tune-up.”

Now...imagine you owned a fine piece of Italian engineering like a 2022 Ferrari 296 GTB (maybe you do). This vehicle can easily exceed 205 miles per hour.

Take it a step further and visualize driving that 8-speed dual-clutch masterpiece at only 35 miles per hour and rarely shifting gears.

People would look at you like you were crazy while Pontiac Vibes and Chevy Bolts passed you by on the freeway.

The Ferrari 296 GTB wasn’t created for driving 35 mph. It’s built for speed. It’s at its best when shifting gears.

So are you.

You aren’t built for a “35 mph” lifestyle.

You aren’t here to coast in your work, your relationships that matter most, your health, or when pursuing your goals.

You’re here to regularly shift gears and see what you’re capable of.

It’s hard to thrive if you’re living a 35-mph kind of life with one foot always on the brakes. The stakes are too high.

It’s time to go full throttle.

Sure, when you exceed the “speed limit” of life your actions might knock others off-balance, ruffle some feathers, or make people uncomfortable.

You might even get a “ticket” now and then.

But how will you find out what you got if you aren’t willing to test your limits?

QUESTION TO ANSWER

In what ways are you living, or have you lived, a 35-mph life?

What are some gears you can shift today to exceed the speed limit and burn off some “carbon deposits”?

💬 WORDS TO PONDER

"The dangers of life are infinite, and among them is safety."

Goethe
