People love to say, “Life is short.”

But as the comedian Chris Rock brilliantly said in a comedy special:

“Some people say life is short, and that you could get hit by a bus at any moment, and that you have to live each day like it’s your last. Bullshit. Life is long. You’re probably not gonna get hit by a bus. And you’re gonna have to live with the choices you make for the next fifty years.”

Indeed. Life can be long.

And at the end of a long life you’ll want to look back and marvel at everything you experienced instead of wondering, What the hell happened?

So here’s to making great choices, even if they aren’t always easy. Your future self will thank you for it.

Drive the bus.

QUESTION TO ANSWER

Based on your current path, and the choices you are making, what are you moving towards? A future you desire, or one that will let you down?

💬 WORDS TO PONDER

“A destiny is not something that awaits us, it is something we have to achieve in the midst of innumerable circumstantial impediments and detours.”

Geoff Dyer, Out of Sheer Rage
