✉️ UNSUBSCRIBE

The most important metric for newsletters is not the number of subscribers.

It’s the open rate.

An open rate is how many people actually open the newsletter.

If 50,000 people are subscribed to a newsletter, but the open rate is only 5%, that means just 2,500 people open each email.

However, if only 7,500 are subscribed to your email list and the open rate is 65%, that’s 4,875 people opening the email.

2,500 versus 4,875. That’s a big difference.

Advertisers and sponsors want access to the second audience with the smaller subscriber size and bigger open rate.

They want the engaged 65%.

One thing newsletters publishers regularly do is churn their list.

They go in each month and identify the subscribers who are not opening their emails.

Then, they remove (or churn) them off the list.

This accomplishes two things:

1. Helps to greatly improve open rates and email deliverability.

2. Increases the quality of the subscriber base - people who want to be there.

Man Morning churns subscribers every month. And even with a large subscriber list, we have a 65% open rate.

We prefer quality over quantity.

So what does this have to do with you?

Sometimes it’s necessary to churn people, things, and open apps out of your life to improve your “open rate.”

We’ll define “open rate” as your quality of life.

You can unsubscribe from:

  • Newsletters

  • Happy hour

  • Negative people

  • Social media

  • Late night eating

  • Petty fights with your spouse

  • The gym membership you never use

  • Alcohol

  • Paramount+ (you never watch it)

  • Emotional constipation

Audit your “list” every month.

Keep what improves your “open rate” and churn what doesn’t.

📶 PROGRESS WITHOUT CHANGE

“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.”

George Bernard Shaw

📱HOW WE'RE SAVING TIME

Smartphones are undeniably incredible devices.

However, they also possess the ability to distract us from what’s most important.

It's all too easy to mindlessly open apps, such as Gmail, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, or LinkedIn, and before you know it, precious minutes or even hours have been lost.

Let's get you that time back.

This way you can spend it on what matters most - family, friends, hobbies, or finishing that great book you’ve been reading.

We’re using this app to help us break free from app distractions and save up to an hour each day (that’s 2 weeks a year).

That's it for today.
