Rediscover Joy in the Midst of Endless Responsibilities
How to Enjoy Life While Meeting Expectations
Rise & Shine.
This is Man Morning - the newsletter for the growth minded man that wants to get smarter, stronger, and live a rich life.
Today in 3 minutes or less, you’ll get:
😆 Should’ve had more fun
🎧️ Living in a “comfort crisis”
🧠 Alcohol shrinks your brain
“When I look back on my personal experiences, the most impactful moments were also the most famished moments in my life where I didn’t have anything.”
😆 SHOULD’VE HAD MORE FUN
Odds are, more is expected of you at this point of your life than ever before.
You can feel these expectations in your bones.
You probably have responsibilities like a family, mortgage, and a demanding job.
People straight up depend on you from the time you wake up until you go to bed.
These expectations can weigh heavily on your conscious.
Even when you go to sleep, there’s probably an “open app” running in the back of your brain that won’t let you forget this.
And you probably do what you’re supposed to do every day without complaining (at least not much).
But are you smiling?
Amid all of the responsibilities, planning, and making sure everyone is taken care of, what can get lost is the joy.
Fun typically is the first thing to get thrown out the window when you’re handling your business.
But should it?
It's important to remember that taking care of responsibilities, and enjoying life, are not mutually exclusive.
When you look back on all you did, even with all the expectations and responsibilities, you’ll probably think: “I should’ve had more fun.”
Don't let the weight of expectations and responsibilities rob you of the joy and happiness that’s right at your fingertips.
So take a load off.
Enjoy yourself a little more when you’re doing what you have to do.
It sure beats doing the opposite.
🎧️ LIVING IN A COMFORT CRISIS
Are you prepared to survive and protect your family in the event of a catastrophe or natural disaster?
Most men are not.
Mike Glover is working to fix this.
He spent 18 years in the US Army and served as a Sergeant Major in Special Forces in various positions. He was deployed multiple times to combat theaters.
Today, he is the CEO of Fieldcraft Survival. The company provides training, products, and services to help people survive worst-case scenarios.
In an eye-opening episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Mike talks about:
The “comfort crisis” in the United States
Surviving and being prepared for any circumstances
The importance of having a tribe you meet with face to face
And much more
🧠 ALCOHOL SHRINKS YOUR BRAIN
As we’ve shared before, there’s nothing wrong with drinking alcohol responsibly.
And yet, there are definitely some great reasons to decrease how much you drink.
Our friend, Dhru Purohit, at the exceptional Try This newsletter shared a few things he learned about drinking alcohol that blew his mind:
Moderate-to-heavy alcohol consumption shrinks our brains. Specifically the region of the brain responsible for memory and learning.
Heavy drinkers tend to have reduced blood flow to the brain. This is a future predictor of Alzheimer's disease.
Globally, 750,000 cancer cases were attributed to alcohol consumption in 2020. While heavy drinking accounted for most, light-to-moderate drinking accounted for about 100,000 cases.
So drink wisely friends.

That’s it for today.
